Bio

Government Name: Louis Edward McGee, III.

How did you come up with your stage name? Captain was a nickname given to me by a group of friends. I was always ahead of everybody in the skateboarding scene and setting new standards so they called me Captain. I just went with that when I started making music.

Birthday & Zodiac Sign: July 15th/ Cancer

Hometown/ Birthplace: Rialto, CA/ San Bernardino, CA

What event/person inspired you to become an artist? My little brother “Villain” (Mason) and the homie “T.L.S” (Derrick). I would wake up every morning for work to my brother making these crazy tracks and I just randomly got on the program one day and went from there.

Who are your musical influences? Villain, T.L.S, J. Bizness, J. Dilla, Desolate, 5000 Animals, Eregular and anything out of the box.

What are your talents? What are the titles you appoint yourself as an artist? My talents… depends on what you consider talent. I’m a Skateboarder, Mechanic, Ping-Pong player, General Athlete, Boxer, Producer, Rapper, Dancer….. I do a lot and keep myself active.

Why do you (rap, sing, produce, etc.)? I rap and produce because its extra fun and they are two forms of outlets for me. I’m a creative person and I like to put my thoughts into something that people can enjoy.

Briefly describe your lyrical/writing style: I would say I’m playful as far as my flow goes. I would say my style is very direct; to the point.

What makes you stand out as an artist and how do you think it will affect the music industry? What makes me stand out as an artist is my ability to not be afraid to produce stuff out of the box and be different. Far as the effect, I figure when the “IN” thing is whatever genre and people are looking for something out of that. They will come to me for that “far out” sound.

Who/ what inspires you to be the person that you are today or aspire to be? My Little brother Villain, Little brother Donovan, Sister Destiny; my fam, LOL. Kristie W., Jabari Moore, Leah Wilson, Vanessa Partida, Blanca Montoya, Yesenia Martinez, Richie Velazquez, Arturo Velazquez, Noa James, Yep and Tie. For the most part, some of these people have been around since childhood and some are new or in between the times. Either way they have made a major impact on me. Whether they know or understand what they have done or not.

What three artists do you feel influenced the growth of hip-hop? I really couldn’t put that in a 3-artist list. There are too many to list.

Who do you listen to the most and do you feel as though they affect your creativity? Once again my little brother Villain and J. Bizness. I listen to both through out the hours of the day. I’m a fan. Their sound keeps me thinking far and beyond. To be innovative with how I structure my music and/or think about certain pockets with drums or key patterns.

How do you measure success in the music industry today? Depends on what you mean by industry. Mainstream – I have none. Local and underground – I’m doing okay.

What do you plan on accomplishing for yourself as an artist? I plan on getting to be able to make music full time. Work with artists from all types of genres and not just specific ones. Underground, industry, or indie.

If you do accomplish these goals, what will be your next step as an artist? If I accomplish these goals my next step as an artist would be to help others get to where I’m at.

Who do you want to work with in the music industry? That’s a stuffed question… Busta Rhymes off top though.

What is your opinion on the current climate of hip-hop music? What Climate? You mean the downfall?? Haha!

What other aspirations do you have (in or outside of the music industry)? Nature, Raw emotion, and all things Ugly and Beautiful.

What is one thing you want to do before you die? In all seriousness… Build a cabin with my bare hands.
