Bio
Government Name: Kareem Sobers
How did you come up with your stage name? I had all kinds of corny names when I started off and Mr. Sobers is something I said on a track as an alias and it stuck perfectly.
Birthday & Zodiac Sign: July 8/Cancer
Hometown/ Birthplace? I was born in Panama, Central America. I lived in Pasadena, CA as a kid then moved to Ontario, CA.
What event/person inspired you to become an artist? My cousin, J. Moulton
Who are your musical influences? Really…? Everyone! Especially that early to mid 90′s era.
What are your talents and what are the titles you appoint yourself as an artist? I have many talents you will come to see! As an artist, the titles I appoint myself are the same as the Maestro that’s orchestrating the symphony.
Why do you (rap, sing, produce, etc.)? I do it because it’s in me! And its what I love! It’s my passion; my everything!
Briefly describe your lyrical/writing style? I would say witty and free! I write about everything under the sun; from what’s going on around me to what’s going on in my life.
What makes you stand out as an artist and how to you think it will affect the music industry? I have classic material and timeless music! To go deeper than that, I feel a lot of things we glorify in the industry, I‘ve already had and gone through before being “rich and famous”. I feel that’s a side we have not heard in hip-hop until now.
Who/ what inspires you to be the person that you are today or aspire to be? My mother inspires me! A single woman from a 3rd world country raising and supporting 3 kids using the talents she had. I hope to do that for her and my family as well.
What three artists do you feel influenced the growth of hip-hop? That’s a good question. I would say 2pac, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. You can ask me why later. LOL
Who do you listen to the most and do you feel as though they affect your creativity? As of lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of myself and peers from my inner circle because they more than enhance my creativity!
How do you measure success in the music industry today? Money, Power & Respect, even though it should be the quality of your music!
What do you plan on accomplishing for yourself as an artist? Making my dreams reality and changing the stereotypes of West-coast hip-hop!
If you do accomplish these goals, what will be your next step as an artist? President of the United States. LOL
Who do you want to work with in the music industry? There are so many, but if had to choose one…? Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) definitely!
What is your opinion on the current climate of hip-hop music? Things are good! Hip Hop is the biggest of every category of music there is period.
What other aspirations do you have (in or outside of the music industry)? I have books and films I want to put together, also a clothing line and running my own sports franchise.
What is one thing you want to do before you die: I want to be able to put my mom in a position where she dose not have to worry about anything! Quote me on that.
