Bio
Government Name? I want to keep my government name private.
How did you come up with your stage name? The homies say I be “skeemin’” so that stuck. My grandfather’s last name is Price so I just put 2 & 2 together. Gotta nice ring to it… LOL.
Birthday & Zodiac Sign: November 29 / Sagittarius
Hometown/ Birthplace: Pomona, CA / Born in Inglewood, CA.
What event/person inspired you to become an artist? I think LIFE inspires me. People can call me an artist, that’s fine. I just think I’m me. I don’t really know anything else except this shit I know, you know? My life is crazy, so just imagine what I’m comin’ with.
Who are your musical influences? Marvin Gaye (really anything Motown), Tupac, Dr. Dre (really anything Hip-Hop), Bob Marley, Sublime (when Brad was alive), Bob Dylan, Anita Baker, …the list goes on & on, folks.
What are your talents and what are the titles do you appoint yourself as an artist? Talents, huh…? I rap, sing, hustle, grind, etc. (jack of all trades. LOL).
Why do you (rap, sing, produce, etc.)? I rap and all that because it keeps me out of trouble. I come from a long lime of negative activities; so this just gives me a way of expressing myself without robbing and all that. I’m jail prone so this is my jail repellant…LOL, plus I can get paid doing it.
Briefly describe your lyrical/writing style? I don’t know what my lyrical style is… I’ll leave that up to ya’ll.
What makes you stand out as an artist and how to you think it will affect the music industry? I think I stand out because I’m ME! My soul is Los Angeles, I know it very well. Muthafukkas can rap that façade about fuckin bitches & big coke all day, but that shit ain’t real. I come from that “county jail, corner boy, gang injunction, liquor store, swap meet, and Venice beach skate” era; true L.A. County shit! I represent it righteously because that’s all I know. I know that Hollywood shit too, but that ain’t all it is…
Who/ what inspires you to be the person that you are today or aspire to be? I think my family (moms & pops), the homies, my city, my ambitions… I don’t know… A lot of things. I owe a lot of people, man… People who believed in me when I was still fuckin around out there. I owe it to myself.
What three artists do you feel influenced the growth of hip-hop? I think Tupac Shakur, Public Enemy, Nas…these are artist that influenced the community to wake up…but I don’t think its artists, I think its songs that influenced the growth of hip-hop. Songs like “The Message” Grandmaster Flash, “Dear Momma” Tupac; these songs are classics in their own right…that’s just my opinion.
Who do you listen to the most and do you feel as though they affect your creativity? I listen to all types of stuff, when I get into my thing; I’m listening to 70′s R&B… Motown stuff, crazy loops…I do me; I don’t bite… LOL!!!
How do you measure success in the music industry today? Success, is a consistent career, monetary gain and doublin’ that. Constant elevation, Jay-Z is a prime example of that.
What do you plan on accomplishing for yourself as an artist? I just want to be successful. (shout out to Trey Songz…LOL).
If you do accomplish these goals, what will be your next step as an artist? I really want to start my own entertainment business… TV, music, film, fashion; the whole lot. I want to be able to control my own destiny.
Who do you want to work with in the music industry? I want to work with anyone talented who’s willing to work. No one specific. Kanye West is doing his thing, Paramore. I’m feelin them, I think Rhianna is sexy as hell, that’s a good one…
What is your opinion on the current climate of hip-hop music? Hip-Hop is slow moving right now, it’s getting “weird”. Not a bad or good weird… Just weird. I ain’t gonna say it’s soft, but it ain’t Death Row & Bad Boy anymore.
What other aspirations do you have (in or outside of the music industry)? I’m a hustler. I’m always gonna have aspirations outside the music industry. LOL
What is one thing you want to do before you die? Get Rich!!!
